Frequently asked questions
General
No, absolutely not. Under the Motor Vehicle Block Exemption Regulation and the Consumer Rights Act, you have the absolute legal right to choose who repairs your vehicle. Insurance companies frequently try to direct you to their own "approved" contract garages simply because those garages agree to cut costs on labor and materials.
Choosing WJ Blair means your car is repaired to factory standards using genuine parts and expert craftsmanship, rather than an insurer's budget-driven alternative. It’s your car, your choice.
No. Your manufacturer’s warranty will remain fully intact. Because our team follows strict original equipment manufacturer (OEM) repair methodologies and utilises genuine factory body panels, paint components, and advanced diagnostic procedures, your vehicle’s structural integrity and warranty protections are completely preserved.
To give you a precision digital estimate, our automated system requires your vehicle registration, insurance details (if making a claim), and a clear description of the incident. Critically, we require a few specific photos to replicate an in-person inspection:
Wide-angle $3/4$ corner views of the vehicle.
A direct side-profile view of the impacted area to check for panel ripple.
Detailed close-ups from 3 feet and 1 foot away.
A clear shot of the manufacturer's data plate (usually on the door frame) showing your exact paint code and VIN.
At WJ Blair, we specialise in heavy collision restoration, structural panel bonding, and major body component replacements (such as doors, quarter panels, wings, bonnets, and tailgates).
⚠️ Please Note: While we are fully equipped for heavy structural panel replacement, advanced welding, and alignment of exterior components, we do not undertake chassis alignment or heavy jig structural frame straightening. If your vehicle requires intensive chassis jig work, we can advise you on the best course of action during our initial photo or physical assessment.
Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) control your vehicle's safety features, such as autonomous emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, and lane-keep assist. The sensors and cameras for these systems are embedded directly inside your bumpers, windscreens, and wing mirrors.
Even a minor bumper scuff or the temporary removal of a panel for painting can misalign a sensor by a fraction of a millimeter. If left uncalibrated, that sensor could miscalculate a hazard by several meters on the road. Our brand-new, in-house ADAS digital calibration lab ensures your vehicle's safety tech is 100% compliant and accurate before you drive away.

Yes. Thanks to our recent facility expansion, our brand-new Junair booth boasts substantial internal workspace dimensions: 8000mm long, 4000mm wide, and 3100mm high.
This generous workspace allows us to comfortably accommodate an incredibly diverse fleet, including everyday family cars, light commercial transit vans, high-top camper vans and leisure vehicles, motorsport/rally cars, and classic vehicle restorations.
SMART stands for Small, Medium Area Repair Technology. If your car has a localized bumper scuff, a supermarket trolley ding, or a minor key scratch, you don't need a costly, time-consuming full-panel replacement or respray.
Our technicians isolate the exact point of impact, repairing and blending just the damaged area. This keeps material costs low, preserves the surrounding original factory paint, and delivers a rapid, flawless repair at a fraction of the cost of traditional bodywork.
We work directly with all major insurance providers and local brokers across Northern Ireland, including AXA, AbbeyAutoline, Hughes Insurance, NFU Mutual, Allianz, and Aviva.
Additionally, if you have been involved in an accident that wasn't your fault, we partner seamlessly with major local accident management specialists like CRASH Services and Granite Accident Management. We handle the itemized estimates, photographic evidence, and direct billing so you don't have to deal with the claims stress.
Yes. We understand that being without your vehicle is a major disruption. To keep you mobile while your car is undergoing panel replacement or sitting inside our low-bake spray booth, WJ Blair provides reliable, clean courtesy cars for the duration of your insurance or private repair process (subject to terms and availability).
